50th Anniversary of the Sealing of the
Junior Allen and Mary Hendrix Cook Family
Idaho Falls Temple

PLAN:  Older fogies (Mary and Junior’s children and spouses)--Spend Wednesday, Thursday nights at Darryl’s cabin and do a temple session sometime on Thursday.  J A 2014 JA & Mary Cook Family Reunion:  Tentatively--Friday and Saturday –
(The hope is you will plan your own family reunions around this date—like the week after or before—so the grandchildren and great-grandchildren can attend—you can begin planning vacation time from work and thinking about travel arrangements).
We’ll do some more definitive planning the end of September and get info out so you have a better idea of where and what…
We welcome your feedback regarding where, what and the amount of time…

NOTE: There will be no 2013 Reunion.

5th of July Gathering ANNOUNCEMENT:
Uncle Roy and Aunt Blanche’s children and family are getting together at the Minidoka Dam on Friday, July 5th—potluck dinner (and bring your own hotdogs or hamburgers and buns).  For more information—give Debbie a call-- 208-436-4489. (PS Sandy is visiting for a couple of months.)

REMINDER:  If you have a family blog, we'd love to put a link to your blog!

Check out the pictures!!!

MOM
Mom is not nearly as busy as she thinks she should be, but the bulging disk, stenosis, and bonespur in her spinal column have certainly taken their toll! She enjoys visiting with kids and grandkids—Thanks for stopping by on your way coming or going!

Jay and Lorinda
Lorinda is now serving in Primary and loving it! Jay & Jeremy have been spending their free time helping a widow (w/6 children) build onto her home. Jeremy enjoyed the tear down of old walls and has been learning some new skills while staying busy this summer. Jacob arrived in Latvia the end of May and has been assigned to Estonia. He seems to be doing well. A lot of his time is spent in service rather than teaching. (Like moving people from one high rise apartment to another - up and down many narrow stairways.) He's liking the food and enjoying his companion.  The rest are well and life is good. (Jacob is on the back row—tee hee hee.)

Corwin and Marilyn
Corwin and Marilyn are now empty nesters—well, for a couple of years…They are going to Alaska on a cruise in July, and then spending the remainder of the summer weddinging!

Tanner is in the mission field—letters are welcome:

Logan and Joycelyn Durfee
are getting married August 9th
in the Mesa Arizona Temple.
Idaho Falls Open House:  August 17th

Derek and Ashley own a house is Thornton, CO. Derek works for Fidelity Investments (2 years now), Kenzie is 4 and Levi is 2.

Lyndon and Debbie
We are all doing well. I just got girls camp over with. We had a wonderful time. Now Lyndon and I have our Stake Handcart Trek on July 1-4.  We are quite busy preparing. We will be trekking at Martin's Cove and the Willey Site. It will be hard but it will be a great spiritual experience.

As far as the kids, Todd and Meg are buying a home in Herriman, UT. They will move in sometime in August.   We are excited to also announce that we have another grand-baby on the way. I secretly hope it is a girl. :)         Dallen will be leaving for Japan on July 26th to teach English for a year. It should be a growing experience for him.     Life is good and we are so grateful for the blessings that Heavenly Father sends our way.

From Ashley:  Things are busy around our place, Baby #4 is on the way and is due January 4th. Jed just graduated with a 4.0 with  his associates degree in Web administration and is a few weeks into the bachelors  degree for Information systems and cyber security. That makes me a single parent 4 days of the week with work school and his calling, Jed is home just to sleep on those days. Gratefully he works four 10’s so he has Friday, Saturday and Sunday off and we greatly enjoy our weekends. Ruby has her baptism in sight even though it is still 6 months away; she enjoys writing stories and is in my opinion “the voice of Junie B. Jones.” Emma has greatly excelled in her reading skills so far this summer and is looking forward to kindergarten, and being in school every day. At dinner time whenever someone makes a statement that she feels is valid she follows it up with a very animated “That’s True!” Eli started at the Early Intervention preschool in April and loves it; he likes riding the bus and being on the go. The thrills of his summer include walks, car rides, swings, playing in any sort of water (hose, swimming pool, or splash pad) he also loves to tease Erin’s daughter Josie (they are just a day apart in age). I just got home from youth conference and had a great time. I am in great like of being in the YW’s program and being with the youth. I am looking forward to Girls camp in a few weeks and have a few tricks up my sleeve. I can’t wait!

Ed and Tasia

Don and Danna
We live by the status quo!  All is well!
Jared and Jen and family moved to El Paso, TX.  Jen noted: I love coming home from vacation to find a police report taped to your front door. Apparently we left the door wide open. Nothing was missing. Everything is fine.

Ken and Karleen
Although we didn’t really plan a family reunion, the three kids were all here at the same time for about a week in May.  Ken took them out logging and crabbing—to give them a true Alaska experience!  Amber has earned her brown belt in Karate—and was excited about that accomplishment. She recently returned from training in California with the Big Boys (and girls)!
Aaron is working for a summer tourism company—washing a lot of busses!
The Whelchels are doing great! James is enjoying his new position at Walmart in the Invoice Office--it has a lot more to do with accounting than running grocery did--and is getting ready to head back to school in the Fall. Courtney is enjoying being a stay at home Mom and will probably look for some hobbies after she finishes her book series :)   Jesse is babbling a lot, learning new words, and loving the construction going on right outside his window! We have a Whelchel family reunion the first week in August, and Courtney's parents are coming for a visit soon after! The End.

Randy and Joanne
Randy had hernia surgery in May and is well on the mend. We stained the deck while he was off from work. He will start traveling again soon.

We had the R Cook family reunion in Nauvoo and Chicago. Despite a bit of rain, hot temperatures and humidity we had a great time! We went to the temple and did baptisms for the dead. Adam, Karyna and Tyler were able to participate and moms could rotate out to watch kids.  We visited many of the shops or homes, sampled ginger bread cookies and are wearing rings made from horseshoe nails. Everyone really enjoyed the pioneer games as well. Ol' Buck and Ol' Tom pulled us around in a wagon to see the sites and most of us saw Vocal Point in concert. In Chicago, we went to Navy Pier, Millennium Park and rode on a water taxi. Dish dish pizza is a must in Chicago and we indulged.

Nate and Tiana are living in Bonners Ferry. Nate is working in a Wildlife Management Area.

Their address is 6495 Lincoln Bonners Ferry, ID 83805

Matt and Lindsay have moved to Kirksville MO and he will start school in July. They are in the Nauvoo stake. The address for them is 1114 Missouri St Kirksville, MO 63501

Craig and Jaylyne
What is happening:  Kirsten, Hugo and family are moving--ten minutes from the temple.  Kirsten notes: I am sitting in a hotel laundromat by night.  During the day my family is tackling the fearsome challenge of wallpaper removal!  We are excited to begin our new life in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan.  Hugo will be teaching at Wayne State University.  We followed an intense storm as we drove to our new home, and then discovered the power was out.  Fortunately, I had thrown in a lantern and our food was already in a cooler. Hannah and Leila are on the swim team in Okemos.  Kirsten has scheduled swimming lessons, etc. around their move.

Andrea and Travis are enroute to Utah and will come up to Idaho tomorrow for the weekend before going to a Thomas Family reunion in Utah.  The first two weeks out of school were pretty hectic with swimming lessons and tennis lessons.  Elizabeth and Catherine are on the swim team there.

I don't think much has changed for anyone else.  We are all just persevering.

Darryl and Mary
Our family just had a fun reunion in Driggs with all of Darryl and Mary's children and grandchildren in attendance. Kandace attached a fun picture we took with our reunion T-shirts if you want to include it. We hiked and ate food and visited. We also went swimming in Jackson Hole and attended a Bar J Wrangler dinner and show.

As for the Keenan family, Johnny and Isaac and John are currently at Encampment which is a celebration of 100 years of the LDS church participating in scouting. Over 10,000 scouts are in attendance, and it is being held on a farm in our ward boundaries. This weekend we are flying to Clearwater Beach, Florida to have a reunion with John's family. The girls have been having a fun summer enjoying playing outside with the neighborhood children.

Emilee and Vinson are expecting a new arrival October 8th!  YEAH!  It’s a boy!

Zac and I are in the process of buying our house. We are all moved in and loving it. We don't have any callings yet in our new ward and so we are enjoying a little freedom while we can.  :)  Zac is keeping busy with work and enjoying it most days. We are both planning to do a half marathon this summer. He is doing the one in Logan Utah and I am doing the one in Pocatello Idaho. They are about a week apart. We are planning to be exhausted those couple of weeks, but we are keeping up a very full running schedule. The boys are doing great. They both do in home therapy every day and so we are seeing some great progress. Including, Owen saying a small handful of words like see ya, done, chip and cracker. And William is getting really great at eye contact and showing you what he wants. We are so blessed to have so many wonderful resources available to us. We have been doing a lot of swimming at the pool to keep the kids from frying when they go out in this 100 degree heat. We are also enjoying our 4 wheeler. Owen loves it and it makes for a fun date for us too. We are just having fun with these new adventures ahead of us. Hope all is well with everyone else.

Phillip and Brittany Baxter
are getting married in the Draper Temple
on August 31, 2013

Brittany served a mission in Scotland. She works for her father who is an investment broker who owns the 5 guy burger franchises in Canada plus other investments. Phillip is now working for Envisions Electrical Engineering and is very excited.

Les just returned from the Scout Encampment, a celebration of the partnership between Scouting and the Church.  There were 10,500 scouts and leaders there. Girls camp is in a week and he'll be tired of a sleeping bag by then.

COOK COUSINS:
Hi There!  Sandy flew in to Salt Lake yesterday and will be in Idaho for the remainder of the summer.  Debbie’s Family:  Taylor got his mission papers off, and we are anxiously awaiting his call.  He is working for the summer and will leave towards the end of August or first of September.  We are all excited about that.  Katelyn is saying that she wants to go on a mission too.
I’m taking a week off the end of July to be with Sandy.  Ally will be at a Church Youth Spectacular and Girls camp the last two weeks of July so hopefully I will get her one of those weeks and won’t have to run interference between the two of them the whole time.  Then we will go to Island Park for a week or so in August.
I’m doing good but have been awfully tired lately and am still struggling with lymphedema.  My therapist told me today that I need to start swimming on a regular basis. The exercise would probably help with the fatigue.  We are starting into a record breaking heat wave this week, they are saying maybe even as high as 110 by next Monday.  Ugh!  Not looking forward to that.

Crazy busy at work with all the Government cuts.  Our Agency has taken a pretty big hit on our budget and we are operating at half the staff.  When I started back in the 70’s we had an office in every county in Idaho and a half dozen sub-offices.  Now we are down to five offices state wide.
Had a barbeque at Brad and Amy’s the night before Father’s Day.  All of Brad’s kids and grandkids were there and Jim & Louise and Lisa and her kids.  It was fun
