FAMILY NEWS

Danna and Don:  were able to "vacation" in Japan with Jordan and Sonya  with the arrival of the new baby.  Rachelle accompanied them to keep them out of trouble!  Jordan and Sonya: our little girl is here. Danica Rose Koyle was born 6/8 at 3:17pm- 7lbs11oz and 20 inches long.  We all love her to bits, and Alexa loves finally being a big sister. She was actually in the delivery room with us when Danica was born. She did great and absolutely loved it.

We have now been in Japan for about 3.5 months and really enjoy it here. We live on base, and are within walking distance of everything we need. Alexa loves to go off base to go out for dinner, and would probably go out every evening if we let her :). Food is really good, the Japanese people are very nice, and the train system makes it really easy to go pretty much anywhere in the country you want to go. We have done some exploring and enjoyed what we have been able to do so far.  We have lots we want to do in the 3 years we are here.

Karleen and Ken:  recently completed their 'northern'  temple trip and were able to do sessions in 19 temples (53 down and 25+ to go)!  With the help of Courtney and James (who did the baptisms and most of the initiatories), we were able to do Kiffer family names.  Darryl, Randy and Jaylyne helped us do sealings, as well.  On our trip we visited Kirsten, Hugo and family,  Emilee ,Vinson and family, and Lorinda and Jay--they graciously allowed us to stay with them!  We also visited Sandy Bercel!

          The Whelchel clan is living the dream and doing well! James is still working as an auditor for the state of Utah and hit his year-mark just before Father's Day. He's also enjoying introducing the boys to the world of legos :)  Jesse just started a three week sports camp and has played baseball and soccer with other 3-5 year olds. He just started Sunbeams this year and LOVES his teachers! Brycen is climbing and talking and loves listening to music. Courtney is starting to teach piano lessons, so James has excitedly researched and gotten her set up to start a 'small home business.' We'll see how it goes! We're also excited to announce that we're expecting a little baby sometime in November that is most likely a boy (seen in an 'unofficial' ultrasound). North Salt Lake is treating us well and we're researching car seats and vans to make room for our new addition ;)  We've been so blessed and excited to have Grandma and Grandpa come visit us, and the kids keep asking when they're coming again!

          Amber now has her black belt in Karate--and is loving Huntington Beach.  She is working for a delivery company (similar to FedEx, just smaller).

Randy and Joanne:  We have been having the R and J Cook family reunion. All of our children were able to come. We had a great time. We just did activities around this area. (Cherry Hill, which is mainly a water park, miniature golf, swimming at the pool etc.  One day we did a 4-5 hr hike to see a beautiful waterfall.  We even had the chance to do some family sealings at the Bountiful temple.)

          Seth has been released as the bishop and is serving as a ward missionary. Carrie is the new stake YW president. Nathan has been called as scoutmaster in his Ward. 

          Matt and Lindsay are now living in Utah. New address: 832 Spring Pond Rd Farmington, UT 84025.      
          We enjoy being closer to Adam. He comes and stays quite often. 

Jaylyne and Craig:  I am typing this from Kirsten's home.  I have been here a week, helping granddaughters sew and playing with all the grandchildren here.  One day we found a toad inside the house.  Hugo has been working outside on their sprinkler system and found a black bumblebee 'nest' underground.  He had to dig it up and move it in  order to keep working on the waterline.  The hornet or wasps' nest he found caused more problems.  Both he and Joshua have been stung by those creatures. Some of the kids may respond to the note I sent, but in case not, here are some things, since most are posted on Facebook, I think it would be OK to print them.

          Ben is studying autocad in order to qualify for a more suitable job.  Julie has a job in the fall teaching in a private Montessori school.  She has had to train some this summer. 

          Elise has been offered a job at the Church History Library in Salt Lake.  There are some upsides and some downsides to the job.  But those of us in Idaho are excited to have her closer for a while.  She is waiting for info from HR before she can plan a moving date, etc.

          Jordan has finished his last class to graduate from ISU.  The family appeared in  Fiddler on the Roof in an American Falls production.  Chester played soccer in the spring; Hannah took ballet.  Their family is growing and busy.

          Richard and Courtney will be living with us for a few months.  We are looking forward to the help with mowing the lawn!

          Sarah is making arrangements for biopsy/surgery for a type of thyroid cancer.  It appears to be a slow-growing type.

          Kirsten and Hugo are getting ready to make their trip out west along I 90:  Mount Rushmore, the Badlands and Glacier National  Park.  They will stop in Pocatello before heading to Hurricane.  We'll have an evening set aside for family to visit while they are there.  Hannah just returned from a Pioneer Trek and heads to camp tomorrow.  Leila goes to camp the next day.  They have not even been out of school a week yet.  Hugo Von has Cub Scout Day Camp this week.  Life is always busy here with music lessons and sports or swimming and church activities.  Hannah starts drivers' training when they return.

          In Albuquerque, Andrea and Travis keep busy, too.  They are excited to have peaches on their tree!  Ellie can drive now, but can't work until she turns 16 the end of July.  Nathan is growing, which is a good thing because he needs to get big enough to hold his own against August!  the end of the school year was hectic with Elizabeth running Track at the high school, and Catherine and Katelyn at the middle school.  Travis helped coach at the middle school and really enjoyed that.  Andrea exercised her creativity for meals at meets, and keeping kids entertained for 4 ish hours at each one.  The family just returned from a reunion that we were in charge of for Travis's family.  We enjoyed time in southern Utah, hiking and boating.  Elizabeth and Andrea were just called as co-organists.  If any of you piano players would like to dabble in the organ, there is some great information at https://www.lds.org/music/accompanying-others?lang=eng#2

Nathan has just learned how to walk a few steps at a time. Bittersweet.

The rest of us are doing normal summer things.

          Daniel and Crystal's son, Eric, advocates a new holiday:  Presents Day, in June;  Just a day to get lots of presents! 

Darryl and Mary:  Jesse had a new baby girl, Margaret Elaine (Maggie). Darryl drove out for the blessing. Mary is still working hard at losing weight. Heidi is enjoying her summer home and Justin is inspecting potato fields for the summer.  Family Reunion will be the middle of August in Idaho.

          Kandace and John are visiting family in the Midwest and on a two-week church history/DC trip.  Johnny just got his driver's license--YEAH!

          Emilee and Vinson are in the process of purchasing a home in Washington.  The deal seals on July 17th.  [20518 Meadow Lake Road, Snohomish, WA  98290]

Joseph was on a Pioneer Trek last week and is attending EFY this week.

          Jesse and Debbie welcomed Margaret (Maggie) the end of May--Hendrix (2) loves to kiss and pet her.

          Zach is going back to work for Utah State as manager for energy efficiency after their family vacation this week--it will be nice to eliminate the 2-hour commute.  Jenny is working one morning a week in a care facility for adults.

Les and Janey:  Les is still serving as the bishop of the Blackfoot 4th Ward. Janey is serving as the Beehive Counselor in YW's. She says her learning curve is straight up.  However, the girls tell the same kind of jokes she heard when she worked with scouting.

          Justin and Emi take amazing photos and share on their Facebook pages of their hikes and adventuring in the sweet country around them. Thomas is usually with them. He loves hiking and eating. Don't know if Kody has visited from California this summer.  We need to ask.

          Robert and Tiffany are now renting a home in Anaheim, California.  Our adopted granddaughter, Cheyenne, and her sweet husband Jaron Batt, are living with them. Blake and Lincoln love going to Disneyland with all of them.

          Mark and Lisa and their gang have just returned from a trip to the Nauvoo Pageant where Lisa's mom is serving a mission. Lillian shares a birthday with her cousin, MaLynn, July 14.  Landon, Ethan, and Carson are involved in sports this summer.  Sydnee was very excited to see her Grandma Boyle.

          Allen and Loreena and their boys have been on a trip to see her parents in Oregon.Christian, Damien and Wesley loved seeing the horses and the ocean again.  Loreena is training for the bike challenge from Ogden to Bear Lake this summer.  Looks like a lot of work.

          Jami and Neil are expecting a boy June 20, Janey's mother's birthday. Needless to say, they are anxious to get the little fella here but haven't decided on a name for him.  So we just call him "Boy". Neil's girls are with them for the next few weeks.  Morgan and MaLynn have grown much taller.  They still giggle a lot.

          Keith graduated from ISU Vo-Tech with certification in instrumation and automation technology. Lucas turns 4 and is very mature for his age.  Keith and Amber have a store in the Pine Ridge Mall called "The Purse Gypsy".  They are learning a lot about running a business. Kaden is learning to work in the store.  Ethan is glad school is out.

          Phillip and Britney brought Andrew up for Mother's Day and he was engulfed by his grandparents of course.  They were here again for a friend's wedding and Grandma Janey finally learned how to get Andrew to like her--feed him tidbits of whatever is being eaten by the adults.

          That's about all we can remember.  We are old, you know.  In fact, Les has finally hit 65, so he figures you are all starting to show your age as well.  He, he.

Grandma Cook: has been trotting about visiting and staying with kids.  She spent a few days with Ken, Karleen and the Whelchels in North Salt Lake in May; with Ed and Jaylyne in Pocatello, and then Les and Janey in Blackfoot in June.  Lorinda met her back in Pocatello and brought her home and stayed until Danna and Don returned from Japan.  She attended Tasia and Jacob's wedding and Tanner's Mission Report.  She has been having some trouble with her hip (and brain)--you might keep her in your prayers.

Lorinda and Jay:  Our family is well. Summer plans include Lorinda hanging out with Granny while Danna and Don are in Japan. Jay will visit his mother when I get home.  Jay and Lorinda stay busy with work and church callings.

          Sam is looking forward to meeting Jimmer Ferdette and turning 16.

          Jacob's working hard at Cliff's Flooring, washing dishes at a local restaurant and doing wood working projects for others.

          Karina is working at the same restaurant as Jacob but she is doing food prep while she applies for teaching jobs (math) in Oregon.

          Jeremy's mission split and he is now in the northern mission of Porto and is enjoying his service there. 

 

Corwin and Marilyn:  Tanner has returned from his mission to North Dakota.  He spoke in Sacrament Meeting June 28th, and it was great to have the entire tribe in town for the occasion, as well.  He is quickly getting back into the swing of things!  
          Derek and Ashley have officially signed papers on a new home in Colorado--and they've moved in!

 

Lyndon and Debbie:  went on vacation with Debbie's sister Cindy and her husband John in May. . .

Ed: has a new van!  YEAH!
