Grandma Cook - Continues to keep busy with the planting, weeding, and canning. She went with Les and Janey to St. George to see the Adolphus Rennie Whitehead replacement headstone in October and then spent Christmas in Blackfoot, as well. She appreciates the visits from all as they travel the crossroads to and from the nether lands!

Robert & Tiffany have moved to Long Beach,
CA. Robert is doing automation for an
oil company in engineering. Tiffany’s
cousin Cheyenne is living with them.
They have a season’s pass to Disneyland—and they go often!
Mark and Lisa are putting their home on the
market—and are looking for something a little bigger!
Neil and Jamie will be married June 28th.
Keith is going to shave his beard—said he couldn’t
do it until he’d passed all of his classes!
They’re having a family party (Santa piñata) on New Year’s Day.
Les is still the Bishop; Janey is the secretary in
Ward RS and the Stake Index Director.
Phillip and Brittany are living in Sandy (Vision
Engineering—working on the electrical contract at the airport). She’s working for her uncle—5 Guys Burger
Franchise.
Mom stayed w/ them for several days—and they had a

noted that Noah was born on a day of torrential rain and tornado warnings—the nurses
and doctor found his name appropriate! Vinson has been playing soccer w/ people
from work—and practices with the five older boys. Emilee was released as the Primary
president and is now serving as a counselor in the Relief Society. The boys
remain active: Joseph ran cross country; Caleb reads and played soccer; Ean is
the scientist and plays the piano; Quinn loves school so much he doesn’t like
having a day off; Seth broke his arm just before Noah (who has an abundance of
hair!) was born.

Kirsten
and Hugo's family are in Hurricane, Utah for the break. We will meet them
in Provo on January 2nd to see the new exhibit in the BYU Art Museum.
Then we will drive to Salt Lake and See the lights on Temple Square and spend
the night.
Elise flew to Albuquerque from Ypsilanti and spent Christmas with Andrea and Travis. She loves working at the library on campus in Ann Arbor. Although her position is temporary and is supposed to end in April, they have given her a huge project to work on and asked her to sit on some committees. The university is celebrating its bicentennial in 2017 and she worked with another employee to compile a catalog of resources available at the Bentley which will help each individual college develop a history prior to the bicentennial. She also is on a committee that plans exhibits in the library—and she helped with the library's strategic plan. So, she feels that maybe her supervisor wants to show the library's administrator that she is indispensable so they will fund her position.

Hannah and Chester are learning to write their letters.
Daniel and Crystal had to replace their washer and dryer. In pulling the old appliances out, they discovered mold, which led to tearing out a lot of the drywall in the utility room and replacing it, then taping and painting. They also replaced the floor—in a week's time.

The big
news on Andrea and Travis’ front is that they are expecting in May. Elise
and the kids got to go to the ultrasound the other day and that was a fun
experience. Elizabeth is taking flute lessons this year instead of
band. Catherine has more homework than her older sister. Katelyn is
a very responsible student and has been writing in her journal regularly.
She and Rebecca have also been taking a guitar class at school. Rebecca
has been learning about different countries at school. Emma was in art
club earlier in the school year. She enjoyed disguising a turkey (paper
cutout) as princess Aurora so that it wouldn't be eaten at Thanksgiving.
Edie likes playing games with mom when August goes down for a nap. She
also likes to play with friends and help in the kitchen. August is at
that cute age where he is learning to say lots of things and is curious enough
to cause trouble (think smearing Peanut Butter on the Floor and Flooding the
Bathroom). He got some matchbox cars for his birthday and Aunt Elise used
a box to make a ramp so he stays busy playing with those things. Travis
and I try to balance it all. I suppose like all of you, we are
overwhelmed at times with everything that parenting entails. Our
dishwasher is out of commission and other home projects keep piling up.
We are grateful for the gospel perspective!
Hugo is enjoying
Wayne State and they are almost done with home renovations. There is a
lot of detail and finishing work, but the bulk of it is done - hooray!
Four months without a functioning kitchen was a long time. The kids are
adjusting to school and our ward and they are slowly getting into a
routine. They live in a great area - ten minutes from the temple.
Here in Pocatello, we
are hanging in there. We love serving as Church Service Missionaries with
the Addiction Recovery Program. Someone in our ward said, "Is that
all?" when we explained that we just met weekly with those who
attend. But our hearts are filled with love toward these brothers and
sisters. We pray for them and think of them often. As we go through
each week, our hearts are open to the Spirit so we will know what to say as we
meet with them each week. We are witnessing that living gospel
principles changes lives!

All the kids came for the Christmas holiday and
all are doing well!
Matt and Lindsay are settling in at Kirksville—a
huge town 15,000 people; however, they do have a Walmart and a Home Depot!
Nate and Tiana packed up their house and put
everything in storage—and headed to spend time with Tiana’s family and then
Randy and Joanne. He has some job interviews and then they will decide where to
go and what to do. They really like
northern Idaho!
Laura is in Rupert; Adam in Pocatello; Seth, Carrie
and family in Brighton.
Randy enjoys spreading stories about Viggy, whom
the grandchildren love! When Joanne is going out for the entire day and Viggy
has to be home alone and in his crate, she takes him to Camp Bow Wow—James and
Trevyn call it Doggie PreSchool.
Karleen & Ken
It’s been a busy fall at the Kiffer home—Ken and
Aaron have been logging in the woods around the house, as well as dragging logs
off the area beaches. Karleen lost her mind and agreed to substitute teach at
the high school—however, she really had an enjoyable stint (which ended with
Christmas break) and never had a morning where she dreaded having to get up
early to go to school! Like many of you we’re making preparations for a new
addition to our family sometime in January!
Amber earned her brown belt and is progressing
rapidly up the ranks in karate. She
works to support herself and to play!
Aaron is applying for jobs and holding down the
fort while Ken and Karleen travel!
James is happy to tell everyone he is graduating
this year! Courtney is counting down the days, sort of, and Jesse is a typical
fun two year old, who calls Papi frequently and loves copters, trucks, trains, and
diggers.
Danna & Don
The kids sent Don and Danna on a cruise just before Christmas! They enjoyed 5 days and nights to Haiti and Jamaica. They had a great time, although Danna was a bit worried about getting home just a day before Christmas!
Jared and Jen have settled in El Paso. Jared is working in the Pharmacy at a Walmart. Jen is serving in the Young Women’s—and their baby is due in early March. Don and Danna stopped for about 6 hours on their drive home from Fort Lauderdale--Don bought a car and they drove it home--Don and Danna style--hop in the car and drive until you get

is good—Tasia will graduate in May—and is looking at college opportunities.

Ashley and Jed welcomed 8 lb 8 oz. 2:14 p.m. 12/28/13 – Jaxon Brent Romig—both
will be home by New Year’s Eve! Jed’s
working for a computer company and enjoys his work—and is continuing with his
education.
Todd and Megan bought a home in Harriman (south
and west of the Oquirrh Mountain Temple)—he’s managing the Salt Lake Store.
Dallin heads back to Japan in early January. He enjoys teaching in the elementary school,
and has come to truly appreciate all the blessings of living in the United
States—ice on the shower floor, a one-burner cook top.
Debbie was just released from the Stake Young
Women’s and will be returning to her Ward for the 1st time in 12
years.

Marilyn really hates the
empty nest! She says she has worked
herself out of a job!
Corwin is Asst Stake Clerk
and Asst Exec Secretary and a High Councilman. Ashley and Derek are expecting in January 25th!
Derek is doing well with Fidelity—he now gets a salary and commission. They
really like Denver.
Tanner is in Williston,
ND—he’s had three job offers (people have given him their business cards with
offers on the back).
Logan is working as a
chemist for Meleleuka, Joycelyn has another year of school in Outdoor
Recreation.

Lorinda and Jay were grateful that
most of their kids were able to come for Christmas and New Years.
Lanette and Shaun brought the - GRANDCHILDREN! Iris is now 2 1/2 and repeats everything she hears. We were enchanted by her sweetness and hugs. Mack was born in the morning of October 21st. Lanette and Shaun met him and his birth parents that evening and signed adoption papers the next day. He weighed 6lbs 13 oz and was 19 inches long. I love how intensely he looks a people. His big dark blue eyes stare intently into your eyes like he's trying to read your soul! He's beautiful and so precious and we are so blessed to have him in our family. Lanette & Shaun were settling in their new home in Provo just before Mack’s arrival.

David is still working for the Utah Water
Resource Department, has bought his first car and has his own apartment in
Bountiful. He drove Karina to Oregon for Christmas (since Lanette and Shaun's
car is now full of car seats). He attends a singles ward there and enjoys
playing basketball on Saturdays with other guys from his ward.
Rachel and Brian came to GP this summer so they didn't come for Christmas. They are doing well - healthier but busier than ever. Both are working full-time and both are taking college courses.
Karina is still at the Y and planning to graduate spring of 2016 in Secondary Ed with minors in math and social science.

As for our missionary Jacob, he is now in Minsk, Belaruz. They are not allowed to proselyte and are considered more as volunteers than missionaries. Most of their time is spent in service and volunteering in the schools. They go in and do puppet shows about eating well and tell stories to discourage children from smoking and drinking alcohol. We were able to Skype with him on Christmas and he showed us the puppets. They look a lot like the Sesame Street puppets.
